Bluerama Resort

 

Bluerama Resort (formerly known as Saa Ree Seaview Bungalow) is a friendly bungalow resort in the hills behind Nai Wok beach, not far from the main road. The resort has good value bungalows and a mixed dorm for guests. There is also a restaurant with some great views over the Koh Phangan landscape and the ocean.

 

This is a fairly new resort but already it has garnered several good reviews, with particuar mention made of how friendly the staff are.

 

NOTE: Originally the Saa Ree Seaview Resort was built to accommodate those attending Montevista Retreat Centre. However, it is unsure whether the centre is still open. The last few reviews of Saa Ree Seaview Resort make no mention of detox, yoga etc. It should also be noted that Bluerama Resort has officially designated itself 'adult only'. That means it aims to please party goers rather than those looking for spiritual insights.

 

Accommodation

 

Bluerama Resort has 16 rooms for rent. They are basic fan bungalows made from wood and local materials as well as some rooms in the main building. The bungalows are scattered over the hill top. The bungalows have fan, mattress and attached bathroom with cold water shower and toilet. The bungalows also have balconies where you can sling a hammock.

 

There is also a small dormitory with 2 bunk beds for solo travellers and for those searching for budget options in the area. Again those staying in the dormitory have access to cold water showers.

 

The family room has 3 beds and can sleep up to 7 adults. There is currently free wifi at the restaurant and for those rooms in the main accommodation block.

 

Resort facilities

 

Bluerama Resort has a restaurant with decking that allows guests amazing views out over the ocean and the pristine jungle scenery. The restaurant serves delicious Thai food. It is claimed that it is a 'shared kitchen' so you might be able to do your own cooking; although ask first.

 

There is a newly installed pool with great seaviews. Mention has been made of restaurant visitors being charged 200 Thai Baht to use the pool. That is not cool.

 

The provide a laundry service. Taxis can be arranged with advance notice. Mention should be made of the steep hill. Many of the taxi drivers in Thongsala won't take guests up the hill - they are made to carry their baggage up the hill themselves. No chivalry with the average taxi driver.

 

Change of ownership - The name change no doubt signifies a change if not in ownership then in management. The new team are keen to challenge those who leave poor reviews. Whether there is any of the same vigour with improving the access or the customer service has yet to be seen.

 

Beach

 

The resort is about 500 meters from Nai Wok beach. Those interested in getting beach time will probably need to rent a motorbike if they stay at Bluerama Resort. The nearest decent beach is Plaay Laem (next beach up from Nai Wok).
